The time had actually come. My first match on Pure Wrestling I’d been waiting for this for so long. Well it hadn’t been long since I’d singed with Pure Wrestling but waiting that time felt like years before I saw the card. To my understanding it was only Pure Wrestling’s second show and last week they had already introduced most of their talent so I had some ground to cover in what would be both my professional wrestling and Pure Wrestling debuts. Looking at the talent on the previous episode of Pure Wrestling and looking at current talent that was employed I saw a lot of interesting people. This week thought, I only had two people to worry about and they were Lucien Mephisto II and Young Mannie, two people that I had no idea about. Not yet that was. I’ve spent years training and mastering everything I’ve put my mind to. I mastered a great amount of martial arts and then some. I shaped myself not just into a fighter but THE fighter. Therefore it was only fitting that right now I would be positioned in the gym, training like always and preparing for my match. With me would be one of the closest people in my life from the past year a trainer of mine.
Reach – Ya know I still don’t get it. Why? Why you’re doing this? It’s not in your nature or your mind or your color or anything like that. The shade of a professional wrestler doesn’t look good on you. Not to sound rude but you’re better than that. You can truly do better why are you going through with this on Pure Wresting?
With my hands on the bench and my legs up on a rack with a dozen plates sitting on them, I struggle to push myself up all the while trying to think of a response to give to such a question. After one final push I drop the weights and face Reach as I descend to the floor.
Alessandra – Why? Because I want to, I’ve always wanted to and I’m going to do it no matter what. I couldn’t get a job anywhere and Pure was the first place to accept me so I’m going to go in there and give it my all. To my understanding they’re a fairly new setup but I could be mistaken about that. Either way I’ve been accepted and booked and I have a chance to get a start in wrestling.
Picking up pace in his words it was easy to see that Reach wasn’t thrilled about this idea at all.
Reach – Yeah but uh you’re not a wrestler. You are a million things but not a wrestler. I’ve seen you do just about every combat practice that I can think of but not wrestling. Why would this of all things be your dream and if it is then why would it be at a place like Pure Wrestling?
Alessandra – Why not? Like I told you its been a dream of mine and I plan to go all the way with it. No one else would accept me but Pure Wrestling would. You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover you should know that and so should my opponents this week.
Reach – Come on you’re one of the greatest fighters I’ve ever seen. Hell I was your trainer and your teacher and you’ve surpassed me. I know no one else with your talent and I don’t know anyone that possesses your skill set. Can’t you do anything else other than professional wrestling? I just think that it’s beneath you and so are the people in your match.
Alessandra – Wrestling isn’t beneath me it’s what I want to do and I don’t think my opponents are beneath me either, they just might not be my kind of people that’s all. I’ve seen quite a bit about them and I think I’m going to like being in the ring with them, it should be fun for me. They might give me a bit of a workout if I’m lucky.
As I leaped up to grab a bar Reach came over and looked down at my things on the floor. He moved my bag and grabbed the papers I was going over about my opponents and my partner this week. I could tell Reach was even further unimpressed while looking at them, eyes scanning up and down. He shook his head in disapproval.
Reach – Fine then. Lets talk about your opponents at Pure Wrestling this week shall we? Who’s this? Young Mannie? Professional wrestling and their names, this makes me sick. Who is this guy anyway just look at him? Look at how he looks Alessandra. He has a bodyguard who is almost 7 foot and 325 pounds! Look at this Mannie guy he looks arrogant and he sounds like it as well. The Main Attraction only in professional wrestling would someone dub themselves that. You can’t be serious can you?
Pulling myself up on the bar I look down first at the disapproving gaze of Reach then at the papers he was holding. My eyesight was perfect but I somehow missed the bodyguard of Young Mannie. I drop down and scan over the pages myself.
Alessandra – Huh? A 7 foot 325 pound bodyguard! Well it looks like this will be fun then! I’ll probably have to worry about him more than I’ll have to worry about Young Mannie it seems. I think he’s used to a certain stupid sense of entitlement that’ll end up costing him. If anything it would be unfair if he didn’t have his bodyguard with him.
Reach – Very funny. He might be a smug show off but that’s not any reason to be dismissing him as a threat to you in the ring even though you could probably beat him relatively easily.
Alessandra – See in one breath you told me not to dismiss him but in the next you dismissed him as a threat. I’ll have my eyes open don’t stress but I plan on winning not just fighting. Young Mannie can be as arrogant as he wants and he can have as many bodyguards as he wants. As far as I am concerned the more the merrier. I want to have some fun.
Flipping through a few more pages Reach holds one of them up to me.
Reach – Well what about this then? What the hell? Lucien Mephisto II. This looks messed up to me what kind of company are the Pure Wrestling people running. Not a very professional one if they’re letting someone like this in. It says he was rumored to be a murderer and was in and out of mental institutions. Now you can’t tell me that that’s going too far? That is completely ridiculous Alessandra.
That was a bit far. In fact if the rumors were true then that was going way to far. A murderer and a delusional psychopath in the ring that doesn’t sit well in anyone’s mind. I didn’t know how to take this one. HE was a psychopath but there was no excusing what he may have done in a past life so all I felt is anger not fear. In fact all I wanted to do to Lucien was hurt him and put him through pain that would make him scream and cry. He would have guards there that would keep an eye on him but they might have to do more than that after our match. They might have to call him an ambulance. Lucien is the worst type of person imaginable and I wouldn’t forgive him.
Alessandra – You’re right how can Pure Wrestling let someone like that work for them? It’s stupid but it’s a small promotion and a fairly new one I’m not questioning the methods of a business that I’ve known for 5 seconds. I don’t like anything Lucien stands for and I think he is a delusional psychotic freak that needs more than a good beat down but that’s not up to me. Hopefully this evil individual faces what’s coming to him one day but until then I have to take him on in competition and I’m not going to lie I’m looking forward to it. I’m looking forward to putting Lucien through pain and making him scream and seeing the tears run down from his eyes. If we meet in the ring together I will not make it quick.
Reach – This is so pathetic it really is Alessandra. As far as I’m concerned you’re one of the greatest fighters in the world and you’re reducing yourself to fighting a clinical psychotic murderer and a smug amateur who thinks he actually has an ounce of skill. This one just doesn’t sit right with me. I’m sorry.
Leaping back up to the bar I give a warming smile. After all Reach only had my best interests at heart. If I were him I would hate me. I would not have been easy for him to see one of his students surpass him greatly like I did but he stuck by me as did most of the other people I worked with over two years. I’m not a coward and I’m not lowering myself. I just want to wrestle and I just want to see what its all about. They’d have to understand that sooner or later.
Alessandra – Don’t be sorry I understand what you’re saying but I don’t see a problem with it. I want to wrestle and I want to be apart of Pure Wrestling for a long time. How long do you think guys like Mannie and Lucien really last? I’ll tell you the answer not long at all. Mannie and Lucien aren’t the kind of people who stick things out. A self entitled fool and a psychotic murderer, how reliable do you really expect them to be? I plan to stay and I plan to go to the top. No one is going to get in my way. Not Mannie not Lucien not even my partner this week. No one will get in the way of me making it to the top of the competition at Pure Wrestling.
Reach – Oh yes! That brings us to your partner another interesting guy that I’m sure we’ll have much to discuss about right?
Reach smiled and went back to the papers finding Joe Martinez’s page that I had researched. We would be fighting together this week but I still wanted to know everything I could about him. I read and watched everything I could find about Joe because I knew there was a strong possibility that after our partnership, we would be possibly put against each other and I wasn’t sure if I could trust him.
Reach – He’s just some unhealthy drifter who is trying to get a job as a wrestler so he can afford a hot meal this week that’s all. The guy is 5’11” and 317 pounds. It’s really too bad that one of the other guys isn’t your partner and Joe Martinez isn’t your opponent because you could probably tear this guy up with one hand tied behind your back in a matter of seconds. Like really, you face a psycho murderer and a rich kid with a giant bodyguard and they give you this… thing as a partner? How unfair is that for you?
Alessandra – How dare you judge him! At least he’s not like the others. At least we have the same goal in Pure. You don’t know anything he can do and to be honest with you, I think he could be quite impressive.
Reach stared at me with his jaw opened.
Reach – No way… Alessandra you could literally kill this guy in under 5 seconds how can you possibly think that he would be an asset to you in this match at all. That’s just stupid.
Alessandra – No, you’re stupid for judging a book by its cover. Like I said do not judge a book by its cover! You never know he might surprise you. He might surprise all of us. Personally I know that Joe and my opponents are doing the same. They will underrate me and think that I’m just some little 19 year old girl that they can toss around and get a quick win off of but I don’t mind. I have one thing they don’t and that’s the element of surprise. I have faith in Joe because if I didn’t that would make our team less than then that of Lucien and Mannie. That’s what a team is about, that is the bare bones of a tag team match. This much I understand.
Reach – Hm well if you say so then I guess there is no convincing you that this wrestling thing is stupid. You have my support though. I will be watching and I’ll watch the whole show for you. Just make sure you win, do that at least.
Alessandra – Ha. You have my word on that.
As I move to the weight rack I pick up a couple of dumbbells and stand behind Reach as he continues to go through the pages. He looks over one seeing it has Jordan Caliban’s photo on it and some info about him. Reach looks over it and I can feel his eyes taking in the info. He swats the page away and looks at the next. It has “The Last King” Scott Wilson’s photo. He goes over the info and I can’t help bu feel the piece of his eyes into the paper.
Alessandra – Scott Wilson he calls himself “The Last King” I might have to put some of these self proclaimed individuals on the mat quite a bit like “The Last King” and “The Main Attraction.” It gives them a sense of claim to something I think I should get sooner rather than later. This is going to be a long goal to accomplish you know?
Reach looks at me with confusion as I pump the dumbbells harder. He raises and eyebrow and I try to just focus on training until he slides the page of “The Last King” off and holds one up with just title belts on it. He turns it around and reads the information and research on the back.
Alessandra – Well you guessed it. I want some gold and I want it soon! This week Pure Wrestling called Joe and I a combination of beauty and the beast. Well I can be both this week or Joe and I can switch places and he can be the beauty because I promise I WILL be the beast. Mannie and Lucien will be in for a fight that they could have never anticipated. They won’t get out of this one without a few tears.
I drop the weighs and take a breath as Reach continues to look confused. I look in the mirror in front of us just above the weight rack and see the determination I’ve been feeling since I was signed. I’m ready. I’m ready to wrestle.
Reach – Ya know I still don’t get it. Why? Why you’re doing this? It’s not in your nature or your mind or your color or anything like that.
